Minister of Religion Visa (Tier 2)

We have an aptitude for knowledge and practice of the legalities that enable religious workers to come to the UK where they have secured employment within their faith community.

A Minister of Religion Visa allows foreign religious workers to enter and live in the UK on the grounds that they take on a position as a minister of religion, missionary or religious worker. Once granted, the visa lasts a maximum of three years and one month.

You can apply for a Minister of Religion T2 visa if:

  • You’ve been offered a job within a faith community (for example as a minister of religion, missionary, or member of a religious order) in the UK
  • You’re from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland
  • Be at least 18 years
  • Have a job offer as a Minister of Religion from a licensed sponsor in the UK (the employer must have a T2 Minister of Religion Visa sponsor licence)
  • Have a Certificate of Sponsorship for the role you will be carrying out in the UK
  • Meet the English language requirements
  • Have sufficient funds to support yourself in the UK
  • Have evidence of your travel history in the last 5 years before applying
  • Have a clear tuberculosis test result (this only applies if you are from a listed country)
  • Not own more than 10% of your sponsor’s shares (unless you earn more than £159,600 a year)

Your employer must make sure your job pays at least the minimum wage and follows the UK rules for how many hours a week you work. If your employer does not do this, your application will be refused.

You need to be employed by a licensed sponsor to apply to live in the UK. Your sponsor checks that you can do the job they’re hiring you for and that it qualifies you for a visa. If so, they will assign you a certificate of sponsorship to prove this. They must also give you other information you need when you apply, for example how much you’ll be paid.

The legal requirements are extensive and demand evidence in numerous forms. Our immigration experts are aware of the strain the stringent legal maze can have on clients. We can advise and assist you with your application, providing guidance you throughout the process.
